That’s the best way i know to title this.
Thanks to my friend AtHomeClothesFree for helping to bring me into this debate a little more. In two previous posts i discussed how pissed i was about how some of the reblogging of pictures different tumblrs and blogs about naturism were appearing on porn/erotic photo blogs and vice-versa. AtHomeClothesFree in a post on his WordPress blog discussed this and I agree with what he commented on and the other blogs he linked to.
To give a quick summary it seems that many nudist blogs are coming under siege in two ways. Porn traffickers trying to phish the nudist blog/tumblr to take it over. And others who have allowed a number of submissions and suddenly find their site overrun with crap from erotic photo and porn sites. In a post made by the owner of Journey of Nudist he lamented that for a while now he had been self censoring pictures submitted because they showed the labia of a female. He states that he’s decided not to worry and about such things and while he will stick to naturist photos he won’t censor them just because some genitalia is showing.
I have to admit i agree with him, and the reason i do is because i know the difference and i hope this post will clarify the differences. I know these differences quite well because I’m a photographer that specializes in nudes. First of all there are different types of photos involving nudity: Nudist, Artistic, Erotic, Softcore, Hardcore, and the vaguely Quasi-erotic.
Now for the nudist category you will usually see pictures like this:
Nothing to see, move along. easy to recognize.
Now for the artistic category:
You can see that the light and perspective in these photos are perfect for viewing and very professional.
Now Erotic and Softcore can kind of merge:
But it’s easy to see what these photos do. They tease, titillate, and make obvious sexual references due to the way the subject(s) are posed and what is being shown, such as the inflammed labia on the woman in the second photo.
Now i am not doing a example of hardcore since i know no one reading this is that dense, but i will show you a few examples of the Quasi-erotic:
Now this is quasi-erotic because the girls are clothed but they are exposing their private parts specifically in a sexualized context. And most of the time you’ll find photos like these on sites like Girls Gone Wild and such other porn niches.
Now the last photo set allows me to segue into the problem that some of the naturist/nudist blogs and tumblrs are having. Some of the sites are reblogging pictures or allowing submissions from other sites. And what happens a lot of times is that we don’t know the true source of the picture since it may have been reblogged, retumbled, and resubmitted through a number of sites.
Now all three of these pictures seem perfectly innocuous. Nothing wrong at all.
The problem we are having is not the pictures themselves but the origin of said photos. Photo #1 comes from here. Photo #2 is from there. And Photo #3 is from the site. Now #1 is from a tumblr owned by a now well known model on Suicide Girls which is a hardcore porn site that has the nerdy/goth girl niche going for it.
Number #2 was reblogged not only from the link i gave but from at least 20 other sites and was reblogged back to the previous site at least 50 times. It took me 10 minutes to back trace the photo through the notes and the final info on it states it was originally posted on the site itself, but i seriously have my doubts that the owner of the site took the picture herself.
And finally Number #3 was reblogged from some guys personal tumblr of pro and amateur MILF/cougar porn.
When we reblog or allow submissions of these seemingly innocent photos we become involved in a chain of porn which enables and encourages others to post more and then to top it off the visitors of the original source can follow the reblogging back to our sites where they can get even more jollies if they want or they assume that we want their garbage on our site. It’s quite the headache for all of us who are running blogs about the beauty of the nude form and the positives of the nudist lifestyle. Of course we’ll make mistakes since tracing the origins of said photos and can be a time-consuming task, and we don’t want to discourage legitimate submissions either.
As for me I’ll gather my own submissions and do the work of back tracing since the barely employed have a lot of free time on their hands. I guess i could offer to help others as well.
Just my 98 cents on the matter.
